The mother of an infant who died at a Murfreesboro day care was brought to tears Wednesday while testifying in the murder trial of the infant’s baby sitter.
Mary Thomas was testifying at the trial of Angela Buchanan, who is being tried on charges of first-degree murder and aggravated child neglect in the 2014 death of 4-month-old Mekhi Cole. The jury was selected and opening statements were given Tuesday. On Wednesday, the prosecution, led by Assistant District Attorney Hugh Ammerman and his co-counsel, Sharon Reddick, presented its case and the defense began its rebuttal.
