Bright Beginnings at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, the day care center in Westhampton Beach where a father said he found his 3-year-old daughter outside and unsupervised last month, has been penalized by the Office of Children and Family Services but allowed to remain open.
Sources familiar with the incident said the little girl slipped out behind another child who was being picked up at the end of the day in late July. A staff member saw her slip out and was on the way to bring her back in when the girl’s father approached the Main Street center and saw his child outside, seemingly unattended. The father, who was not named, called Family Services and Westhampton Beach Village Police.
