A man and a woman have been charged in connection with an assault that allegedly took place at Woodstock daycare almost 30 years ago.

The Woodstock Police Service said officers began an investigation into the allegations of assault on February 4, which allegedly occurred at a daycare in Woodstock between 1991 and 1995.  The allegations were made by a male victim who was a child at the time.

The daycare was open for around 25 years during the 1980s and 1990s.

On Wednesday, police charged a 73-year-old man and a 73-year-old woman with assault, uttering threats and assault causing bodily harm. Police said the pair had ties to Ingersoll, Fenwick, and Walkerton, and may have worked at another daycare or worked with children in these locations.
