ROCHESTER, Minn. (KTTC) — A Rochester man convicted of sexually assaulting a 5-year-old girl in 2016 was sentenced Thursday.

Hussein Abdulahi Ahmed, 34, of Rochester was convicted of second-degree criminal sexual misconduct of a child in July 2019.

Ahmed was sentenced to 120 days in the Olmsted County Jail and up to 10 years of probation.

According to the criminal complaint, in April 2016, the victim, a 5-year-old girl told police that Ahmed pulled her into a room and “asked to see her underwear, pulled her pants down, kissed her and rubbed her bottom.”

According to the criminal complaint, the victim had been at her daycare provider’s sister’s house at the time of the assault. It is unclear how Ahmed is related to their sister.

He has one year from Jan. 30, 2020 to start his jail sentence. He is required to register as a sex offender and is restricted from having contact with minor females. He is also banned from going to playgrounds, schools or daycare centers.

The victim’s mother addressed the court before the sentencing, and stated, “My daughter was 5 when this happened. I don’t wish this on my worst enemy. Nothing can be said or done that can reverse the trauma that this has caused.”

His lawyer says they plan to appeal the conviction.
