Police: 3-year-old child shot in Albany

ALBANY – A 3-year-old boy in Albany is expected to be okay after being shot in the arm.

Police say it happened in the city’s South End on Thursday afternoon.

Albany police Chief Eric Hawkins say the child was sleeping inside a daycare center, when a stray bullet pierced the wall and hit him. The police chief described it as a shootout in the streets.

At least eight small children were in the daycare center at the time. The police chief says anyone of them could have been hit.

As of late Thursday afternoon, police had several persons of interest in custody.
