Kate Middleton is getting some firsthand experience on how hospitals care for children. The Duchess of Cambridge has done a lot of work with children’s hospitals over the years and recently completed a secret job shadowing at a London hospital. The visit, which Kate kept out of the press, taught her some valuable things about childcare and proves that she is very committed to the causes she advocates.
Kate Middleton keeps this work a secret
This past week, Kate took time out of her busy schedule to job shadow at a maternity ward in a London hospital. Although Kate kept her two-day visit a secret, it was revealed in the Court Circular, which keeps track of all the things the royals do in a given week.
According to Harper’s Bazaar, the report revealed that Kate Middleton finished a two-day training session at Kingston Hospital Maternity Unit. It did not elaborate on any details surrounding the visit, but Kate has done a lot of work with child development in the past.
“The Duchess of Cambridge, Joint Patron, the Royal Foundation of The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, today completed two days with Kingston Hospital Maternity Unit in London,” the circular read.
Last spring, for instance, Kate advocated for families to spend more of their day in the outdoors. She also emphasized the importance of child development in the first five years of a child’s life, encouraging parents to be mindful of these formative years.
Kate Middleton has not commented on her visit to the hospital, but there is a good chance she will put her newfound experience to good use.
Prince William opens up about mental health
Kate Middleton is not the only royal who made headlines last week. Her husband, William, took part in a discussion on mental health with the West Bromwich Albion football club.
The Duke of Cambridge talked about the importance of being open about mental health, especially when it comes to men. He also discussed all of the pressures athletes face on social media and how they deal will all the criticism from fans.
Taking to Instagram, fans expressed their support for William’s campaign on mental health, which is a part of his Heads Up initiative. William helped launch the program this past summer with the goal of raising awareness about mental health issues throughout the UK.
“Amazingly great work William. We so appreciate what you are doing,” one fan wrote.
As a member of the royal family, William knows how it feels to be constantly in the spotlight. Although he too struggles with mental health from time to time, it is great to see him advocating for such an important cause.
Inside Prince William and Kate Middleton’s Christmas special
This month, William and Kate will be releasing a Christmas special along with celebrity baker Mary Berry, who is known for starring in The Great British Bake Off.
The trio will be throwing a Christmas bash for people who work with charities in the region. The Great British Bake Off alum is set to make dishes based on her favorite holiday recipes, while William and Kate will be helping her in the kitchen.
The event, of course, will also highlight some of the charities that Prince William and Kate Middleton support. The couple will take Berry around to some of their favorite charitable organizations, where they will meet some of the people who work behind the scenes.
We do not know what else the special will include, but we cannot wait to see William and Kate show off their cooking skills.
Prince William pays tribute to his parents
Speaking of royals that give back to the community, William also gave a shout-out to his parents, Princess Diana and Prince Charles, as well as his grandmother, Queen Elizabeth.
When she was still alive, Diana did a lot of important charitable work in Africa, something that both William and his younger brother, Prince Harry, have continued.
“Growing up, both of my parents were hugely charitable,” William shared. “My father set up the Prince’s Trust. He’s involved in so many different organizations.”
William added that he always feels good about helping others. Not only does he learn a lot from his charitable work but it also inspires him to give more of his time to worthy causes. Given how much Prince William and Kate Middleton support charities, it is safe to say that they learned a lot from their parents.
