A Florida elementary school student did his part to get his teacher a little extra pay in an endearing moment that’s gone viral.
Third-grader Parker Williams, 9, gifted his teacher with the $15 he recently received for his birthday, along with a note saying he believes teachers deserve to be paid more.
Parker is a student at Gorrie Elementary, which is located in Tampa and serves students from kindergarten through fifth grade.
“I think more people should be nice because it’s a nicer thing to do than being mean,” Parker said in an interview with Tampa news station WFLA. “I think she’s a really kind teacher … and she spends time on everybody.”
The letter that Parker wrote to Mrs. Chambers reads, in its unedited form, reads: “I dont think that teachers get paid enough for what they do so will you exept this gift?”
Parker’s father shared a photo of the note on Facebook after discovering it in his son’s folder, along with the money in a plastic bag.
Written on the bottom of the letter was the teacher’s response, which reads, “I can’t accept this but appreciate the gesture, Parker. Students like you are the reason I teach.
