North Little Rock teacher accused of dragging preschool student down hallway

A North Little Rock teacher has been placed on paid administrative leave after being accused of dragging a preschool student down a hallway.

The North Little Rock School District said Thursday that Jody Edrington, coordinator of the district’s early childhood program, is off the job pending an investigation.

According to a police report, a staffer at the Pike View Early Childhood Center said a girl was “throwing a tantrum” Monday when Edrington grabbed the child by the arm and dragged her down a hallway. The staffer told the child’s mother, who reported it to police.

The child’s mother told police she took her daughter to the hospital to be examined and that the child did not appear to have been injured.

According to the report, district superintendent Bobby Acklin told the child’s mother that the incident was recorded on video and that he was “troubled” by the incident.

No charges had been filed Thursday.
