Study: Carolinas among worst to raise a family

A new study out places the Carolinas among the worst states when it comes to raising a family.

WalletHub compared the 50 states across several factors like safe schools, divorce rates, and crime rates. South Carolina came out to number 43 on the list while North Carolina took the 38th spot.

The Palmetto State earned high marks for the low cost of child care and for paid family leave, but it scored lowly for violent crimes and property crimes per capita.

The Tar Heel State earned some higher scores thanks to the number of children participating in volunteer work, paid family leave and job security. North Carolina didn’t do so well when it came to climate disasters and safe schools.
