BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) – The state has suspended the operating license for a Bakersfield woman accused of harming a child at her home-based day care.

Shannon Perkins is accused of beating and choking a young child. The actions were reportedly captured on in-home surveillance videos.

California Department of Social Services spokesman Michael Weston told Eyewitness News on Tuesday that the child-care operating license was suspended, though Perkins has the ability to appeal.

Meanwhile, the Kern County District Attorney’s Office said the case was investigated by the Sheriff’s Office and is under review for possible criminal charges.
