Irate parent charged with menacing staff at child care facility: Beachwood police blotter

BEACHWOOD, Ohio — Disorderly conduct, Chagrin Boulevard: At 10 a.m. May 10, officers were called to KinderCare Learning Center, 24753 Chagrin Blvd., where a disturbance was taking place. An irate parent was using vulgar language and threatening staff members.

The parent, a Cleveland woman, 27, was arrested and charged with menacing and disorderly conduct.

OVI, I-271: At 1:30 a.m. May 8, police stopped a car that was speeding on I-271 northbound. It was subsequently learned that the car’s driver, a University Heights woman, 26, was intoxicated. The woman’s blood-alcohol content was found to be .139, above the state minimum for drunk driving of .08.

Police charged the woman with OVI and prohibited BAC, and cited her for speeding.

Open container, Shaker Boulevard: At 9 a.m. May 8, an officer stopped a car because its registered owner was known to be the the subject of an active warrant. During the traffic stop, it was learned that the car’s driver was not its owner.

The driver, however, was driving with a suspended license and had in the car an open container of alcohol. Charged was a Cleveland man, 37.

Possession of drug paraphernalia, I-271: At 1:45 a.m. May 9, an officer stopped a car that changed lanes without signaling. The driver, a Columbus man, 24, was found to have a suspended license and to be in possession of drug paraphernalia. The man was cited for all three offenses.

Theft, Park East Drive: At 11:50 a.m. May 9, police were called to the DoubleTree Hotel, 3663 Park East Drive, where a disturbance was taking place. After investigating, officers arrested a Cleveland woman, 29, who refused to pay her bill.

Theft, Cedar Road: At 3:35 p.m. May 9, a Warrensville Heights man, 18, was arrested for stealing merchandise worth $98 from Dillard’s at Beachwood Place mall, 26300 Cedar Road.

Theft, Cedar Road: At 8:55 p.m. May 9, police arrested a Maple Heights boy, 16, for shoplifting clothing from Dillard’s worth a total of $165.

Marijuana possession, Chagrin Boulevard: At 11:30 p.m. May 12, an officer stopped a driver for disobeying a traffic signal. The driver, a Maple Heights woman, 18, was cited for that offense, as well as for marijuana and drug paraphernalia possession, and for having an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle.

OVI, Richmond Road: At 4:15 a.m. May 11, an officer stopped a car for driving too slowly at the intersection of Richmond Road and Chagrin Boulevard. The driver, a Cleveland Heights man, 22, was found to be intoxicated. He was charged with OVI and with the traffic violation.

OVI, Chagrin Boulevard: At 2 a.m. May 12, an officer stopped a driver for operating an unsafe vehicle. It was subsequently learned that the driver, a Warrensville Heights woman, 54, was intoxicated. The woman was charged with OVI.
