North Central Parke Schools announce weather-related closing information

Information regarding school closings or schedule changes due to extreme weather or an emergency situation will be posted on the front page of the North Central Parke Schools district website, as well as on Facebook and Twitter as soon as a decision is made.

Typically, a decision to close or delay school is made prior to 6 a.m. on the morning in question, although there are times that a decision can be made the evening before.

On days that the district is closed, has a delayed opening, or dismisses early, SchoolMessenger, the district’s broadcast telephone and text messaging system, will contact all district families to announce a closing, delayed opening or early dismissal. When school is cancelled for the day or there is an early dismissal, evening events and activities are typically canceled as well unless otherwise noted on the district website or in the closing announcement.

In the event of a two-hour delay this year, Rockville Elementary School Daycare will be on a two-hour day. The morning preschool will be cancelled.

“The successful delivery of information is dependent upon accurate contact information obtained from school records. If your household and/or emergency contact information changes, please let your school secretary know as soon as possible,” according to a district news release.

In addition, parents can find accurate information about district school closings and delays on radio and television stations.
