Theft suspects crash into vehicle while trying to get away: South Euclid Police Blotter

Theft, Warrensville Center Road:

Two women and a man left Walmart Nov. 7 with $403 worth of unpaid groceries after their credit card was declined. They removed the temporary license plate from their vehicle and fled the area, striking a parked vehicle in the process. Cleveland Heights police stopped the vehicle in that city, where the three Garfield Heights suspects were subsequently arrested and charged with theft. The driver was also charged with hit-skip.

Property damage, Elmwood Road:

A man reported Nov. 1 his ex-girlfriend slashed the tires on his vehicle while he was sleeping. The incident is being investigated.

Obstructing official business, Warrensville Center Road:

Officers responded to Walmart Nov. 1 for a report of a man “hitting on” on a five-year-old child. The suspect was said to have left in an SUV, but his vehicle was not located. Officers checked with the mother and child and confirmed they were OK.

Fraud, Stilmore Road:

A man, 62, reported Nov. 2 he had applied online for a loan and was sent three checks with instructions to transfer the money to Google Play gift cards and send back the redemption codes. He did as told and then learned the three checks were fraudulent. His bank is investigating the incident, which is a $5,975 loss to the man.

Traffic stop, Warrensville Center Road:

A Cleveland woman, 49, was cited for driving with fictitious plates Nov. 3. The plates had been expired for over three years and there was a fictitious expiration sticker affixed to the rear plate.

Discharge of firearm, South Green Road:

Officers responded to the 900 block around 7:30 p.m. Nov. 4 for a report of shots fired. They located four shell casings but did not locate the vehicle that was suspected to be involved in the incident.

Obstructing official business, Cedar Road:

A woman reported Nov. 4 a man had broken into her apartment and was asleep inside of it. Officers located the Euclid man, 53, who could not provide proof of his identity. He was charged with obstructing official business.

Disorderly conduct, Mayfield Road:
A Cleveland Heights woman, 49, was found passed out on the sidewalk Nov. 5 with her head nearly hanging off the curb. She became agitated when officers tried to locate someone to turn her over to and was subsequently cited for disorderly conduct; public intoxication.

Found property, South Green Road:

A gun was located by a patient in a bathroom at the Suburban Health Center Nov. 6. It was turned over to police.

Theft, Greenvale Drive:

A woman said Nov. 6 someone had broken into her apartment over the previous weekend and stolen a laptop computer, cell phone and a pair of shoes. The incident is under investigation.

Harassing communication, South Green Road:

A resident reported Nov. 6 her ex-boyfriend threatened to rob her and destroy her property. She said the threat stems from an incident in October when she accidentally broke a window at the man’s Cleveland apartment.

General assistance, South Green Road:

A woman said Nov. 7 a worker at a daycare rolled her eyes at her and told her she knows where she lives. The woman and the daycare have ongoing issues and have both filed reports. Officers learned the woman and her child are no longer permitted at the daycare.

Aggravated menacing, South Green Road:

A city detective received threats Nov. 4 on a voice mail and through the dispatch center. The suspect is an associate of a victim in a case she is investigating.
