The primary school children sexually abused by their own peers

It is perhaps too shocking to even think about, but it happens: when young children at primary school are sexually abused, not by adults, or even older children, but by their peers.

Last night we revealed the increase in the number of reports of sexual abuse in schools across England and Wales and how secondary school teachers are struggling to deal with them. In the second of our two-part series, we look at what’s happening in primary schools.

More than half of the teachers we’ve spoken to say they’ve had no specific training in what to do. We should warn you: this report contains some distressing accounts of abuse.
