Parents accused of stealing from Fayetteville school group and scout troop also ran day care center

FAYETTEVILLE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) — The parents accused of stealing more than $30,000 from Fayetteville Elementary’s ‘Home School Association’ also ran a day care center in Fayetteville, NewsChannel 9 has uncovered.

Andrea and William Robert Cuddy are accused of taking more than $30,000 from an account they had access to.

Police were tipped off after a new board of officers discovered the money missing.

Investigators then found that the couple allegedly stole from a local Cub Scout troop in order to pay back some of the money.

“I want to get everyone their money back. That’s step number one. I also want to find out if there’s some innocent explanation. If it turns out to be these two people, we want to make sure the victims are made whole first and foremost and then we’ll worry about what happens,” said Onondaga County District Attorney Bill Fitzpatrick.

The status of the day care center is still in question. The owners tell investigators that it’s still open but police say it’s been shut down.

Government records show the day care center has been cited for not holding fire drills and leaving children unattended.
