Owners of Minneapolis adult daycare charged with tax evasion

The owners of a Minneapolis adult daycare have been charged with multiple tax crimes.

The federal indictment was filed on Tuesday against Faysal Sayid and Muhumed Ali, owners of Meisa Group, LLC, at 970 East Hennepin Avenue, the Minnesota U.S. Attorney’s Office announced.

Sayid and Ali are accused of using money from the daycare’s operating accounts for personal expenses, including clothing, entertainment and cars.

Over a period between 2012 and 2014, the pair are accused of taking more than $1 million from their company to fund their lifestyle.

The adult daycare provided services to adults enrolled in Medicaid.

According to the indictment, Sayid and Ali falsified financial documents including their profit and loss statements, as well as fabricating invoices.

They also failed to report or pay individual income taxes on their incomes.

The court date for the two has been set for Aug. 9 in St. Paul.
